Overcoming dyslexia: Elize tells her family’s experience

I want to tell you about our family’s Edublox journey.

When my youngest daughter (now 25 years old) was in 4th grade, I realized her reading was not on par. The school said I should not worry. However, we took Marie-Louise to a psychologist, and he determined that she had dyslexia. He recommended that she goes to a specialist school 150 miles from home. At the time, we resided in a small town, and since 1st grade, our children stayed in a boarding school 30 miles from home. We did not want to send Marie-Louise 150 miles away from home.

I then remembered hearing about Edublox on Radio Pulpit (a radio station) and got in touch. She and I then went to stay near an Edublox clinic for two weeks, and I learned how to utilize the system. After that, we worked with the blocks EVERY weekend and on holidays, two and sometimes more hours a day. When Marie-Louise reached 7th grade, she got satiated and we discontinued the system. She passed 12th grade with four distinctions, passed her BA degree in Social Work with good marks, and is pursuing her MA degree in Social Work (Play Therapy).

At one stage, I felt her reading was so poor she was not even going to get through 7th grade! When she read her first Harry Potter book, I was over the moon, and she has never stopped reading since.

I’m 60 now and am very worried about my mind. I was so grateful when I heard about Edublox Online Tutor because now I can help myself on the computer.

I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I am really enjoying it.

Kind regards
Elize
